Annotation_logticks on outside of y axis?

I am looking for an easy way to implement log ticks on the OUTSIDE of
panels, graphs etc on the left of y axis. Through some searching, this does
not look possible without exorbitant amounts of ggplot hacks, which I don’t
really understand how to implement. Am I missing something - is there an
easier way to do this? Below are some links to the hacks I think might
accomplish it, but I’m not sure. Are there plans to add such a
functionality to the standard ggplot under annotation_logticks in future
(such as using negative units under the short, mid, and long parameters)?
